Return to the real-life days of the wild, wild West where the living wasn't so easy... especially for women. Calamity Jane (Martha Jane Cannary) was a bona fide frontierswoman, a professional scout, a drunk, and sometime whore, doing whatever it took to stay alive in the hardscrabble days of American expansion. Writer Christian Perrissin (El Niño, Cape Horn) joins forces with Alph-Art-winning artist Matthieu Blanchin to tackle the legend of this formidable prairie girl and her daring life alongside the likes of Buffalo Bill Cody and Wild Bill Hickok. Presented in English for the first time ever, this graphic novel illustrates the extraordinary tale of an independent woman with gumption -- the incredible Calamity Jane!
Christian Perrissin attended the Fine Arts of Annecy and the workshop BD of Applied Arts Duperré in Paris, but gravitated towards writing. Between 1987 and 1990 he trained with Yves Lavandier. In 1992, he published The Hunt of Prince Charming, the first album of the series Hélène Cartier created with cartoonist Buche . Meanwhile, Christian Perrissin worked for Bayard Presse, wrote for TV series (Tribunal and Dr Sylvestre), and embarked on a movie project as part of a workshop funded by Canal + Scripture. It created, with Daniel Redondo drawing, cycle Beard Red Youth. Then with Marc Bourgne as a draftsman, he continued the series Redbeard, succeeding Jean-Michel Charlier and Jean Ollivier. He met the designer of Croatian origin Boro Pavlovic in 2002 and they work together on a new series: El Niño. In 2005, in collaboration with the Italian designer Enea Riboldi he wrote the series Cape Horn. In 2008, he created Martha Jane Cannary: The Calamitous Life of Calamity JAne with artist Matthew Blanchin (in 3 volumes). The series received an excellent reception, receiving the Ouest-France Prize 2008 and the price necessary at the Angoulême Festival in 2009.
