In June 2023, 25 NATO member countries came together in Europe to take part in the joint "Air Defender" exercise initiated by the German Bundeswehr. 10,000 soldiers with a total of approx. 250 aircraft participated in the "largest air force deployment exercise in NATOs history". Particularly an A400M and a Tornado grabbed peoples attention with their colourful decoration, especially of their vertical stabilizers.
